Being a Lady in the Land of Girls

Being a lady in the land of girls, I was thinking about how I appear to the world. I was dreaming of persuasion and trying to figure it out like its a puzzle when I found a large jigsaw piece.

Femininity. It distinguish us Apostolic Pentecostals from the rest of the world these days. It's practically a benefit we have, that the guys can't use. How so? It separates us. A persuasion method. After all, actions truly do speak louder than words.

Romans 12:2 starts off, "And be ye not conformed to this world..."

Still confused? How about I make up a possible scenario. (Similar events have happened to those I'm acquainted with!!)

Imagine a Apostolic lady goes to IUPUI (or any secular college). She doesn't sway with her standards, and comes in everyday with modest necklines, appropriate length skirts, long glorious hair, and make-up free.

This woman may get "looks" at first but she slowly earns the respect of her classmates and they start asking questions, without judgment. They ask her, "Why do you wear things like this?" which turn into "Why do you believe that?"

It's just a separation us ladies have from the secular world. A persuasion method that women can access easier than men.

Won't it be so much more impacting if someone can see the difference of our lifestyle right before their eyes? After all, "Actions speak louder than words."

However, this persuasion method can go even deeper.

Your walk and your talk. It impacts so much more. Our lifestyle is not so much about our physical appearance as it about our hearts and the purity therein. How you treat people and your attitude towards situations will persuade someone more than "preaching" to them ever will.

Audrey Hepburn once said, "For beautiful eyes, see the good in others. For beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness."

Ladies, be sweet. Speak kind words. Choose your language and your words carefully. Love people and be considerate. Have a willing heart and ears ready to listen. Be sensitive but sensible. Be happy and refrain from negativity.

Do all these things with a pure heart, and ladies - you've got a secret to persuasion.

Lastly is one last physical trait that is absolutely necessary. Just smile. Even if it's been a miserable day, smile. Smile at strangers, friends, and family alike. It may be the encouragement they need.

IBC Anthem

The following thought came to me on 4/2/13. I kept feeling the urge to post it on my blog. I kept putting it off, then my pastor confirmed my thought through a sermon about two months ago, and I think it's about time I let the world know.

This is the unedited format. I wrote as I thought it. Bear with me.

The IBC Anthem

Persuasion. Persuaded. Persuading. Persuade.

As an IBC student, we are here to grow because we are PERSUADED, right? We even have an original song declaring it. I am PERSUADED. I am PERSUADED!

However, we cannot stop there. Scriptures say to go and PERSUADE all men. That's what our goal must be. What good is it for me to be PERSUADED if I don't share and PERSUADE anyone and everyone? Go PERSUADE!

The buck doesn't stop there. Indiana Bible College exists to firm our foundation and teach us how to minister. We are taught how to be PERSUADING and methods of PERSUASION. As students, we must be diligent because no person is the same. The growth of the kingdom is our goal - don't you want to do everything you can?

Are you PERSUADED?

Better yet, are you PERSUADED to PERSUADE?

*The song Persuaded is off of Indiana Bible College's 2013 CD "Persuaded" and can be purchased at www.voicevision.com

The Persuading Introduction

Welcome to The Persuasion Series. This set of blogs will contain various topics related to the word "persuade."

I first fell in love with the word "persuade" during the 2012-2013 year of Indiana Bible College, who's theme was "Persuaded." Indiana Bible College produced an original song - I Am Persuaded, and even titled the album "Persuaded."

There are many scriptures that deal with persuasion - but the one that got me hooked is Romans 8:38-39. (KJV is below.)

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I have had this series on my heart since the beginning of the year, but I kept putting it off. God had other plans. On March 28, 2013 my pastor, Paul D. Mooney of Calvary Tabernacle preached on Persuasion (which he hadn't preached on since 1988). God confirmed this message through my pastor that night, so here I am before I need reminded again.

I hope y'all enjoy the Persuasion Series. Will you be persuaded?
